Storied Blanket

A sound-responsive light installation.

Inspired by practices of using textiles to record stories and events, Storied Blanket is an ever-changing light installation that reflects the sonic atmosphere of the room it is in through changes in brightness and color of the lights woven through it.

Participants are invited to observe a visual representation of the room that Storied Blanket is installed in, as well as change it themselves by speaking into the ball of yarn. Storied Blanket was designed to look unfinished; it relies on the sound of the room and participants to add color to it to finish it.

MATERIALS

Arduino BLE Sense, LED Neopixel strip, side-glow fiber optic cable, 600 yards of acrylic yarn.
