WEEK 5: A SOFT LIGHT SANDWICH

This week, I built an enclosure for a LED puck light, to be used as a night light.

DAY 1:

For this project, I decided to remake my sandwich light from last week out of soft materials. I have been looking for a way to incorporate crochet into one of these projects, so my two materials I am using this week are felt and yarn.

The plan is to replace the wooden layers with crochet, made more sturdy by felt layers glued to each crochet layer. I’ll use fabric glue to join those pieces together.

First, I made layers for lettuce, tomato, and cheese. For the bun, I added some cotton stuffing to make it squishy. It also has a nice diffused light effect this way.

DAY 2:

I cleaned up the ends and assembled it (no felt yet).

Then, I glued each layer down onto pieces of felt. I also added velcro to the bottom bun and the bottom of the light to hold the light in place. I hand-sewed the velcro to the bun and used hot glue to glue the velcro to the light.
